03 Aug On to Almaty
August 3 return to Kazakhstan
We got up early to do some video work, with the girls making sand angels and also sport some mustaches for a fun segment. Sarita is so organized, and has the cheerful temperament of a Parris Island drill sergeant when needed.
We stopped in the last town before the border to take some shots of the bus with a statue of Lenin and also to spend the last of our Kyrgyzstan SOM. Don found some wonderful meat and cheese pastries for a wonderful breakfast treat.
Much to our amazement, the Kaz border crossing was brilliant! Us passengers were sent to the front of the line for our stamps, and Don spent only about 30 minutes in what Will and Tommy called the Customs Dungeon. They spent nearly 4 hours at this same border crossing last year, and we were out in under an hour. And they were nice, professional officers, who spoke perfect English with him. What a difference from the Western border!
On to Almaty for a night with wifi!
