30 Jan Improvements
We hosted Mongol Rally veterans Will Houtz and Tommy Schultz for a long weekend in January. Their team, Quarter-Life Crisis, completed the 2012 Rally in a Toyota pickup truck. Will and Tommy both were enthusiastic about our bus plans, and agreed to come give us a hand with planning for this summer’s adventures.
Tommy is an expert mechanic and enjoyed crawling around the big bus while giving Don tips on maintenance items and necessary spares to take with us. Will is a fantastic planner and navigator, and he painstakingly reviewed our route and offered advice based on their own Rally experiences.
We also drank a few beers, took a joy ride with fellow rally-planner Michael Murray and got some painting and scraping done on the bus, as well as strategy for the much-anticipated custom roof rack being built by master craftsman Bruce Jackson. A good time had by all.
