Don Training for Icarus Trophy

Don Training for Icarus Trophy

Though the bus is taking a well-deserved break in between adventures, Don is not resting on his driving laurels. He’s signed up for the pioneer Icarus Trophy in October, billed as the longest powered paramotor race in the world: 1200 miles from Washington to California.

His preparations are coming along well; he’s been spending time with the good folks at Powered Paragliding USA in Warrenton, Virginia who are also training several other participants. And by going well, I mean he hasn’t killed himself yet. So there’s that.

Here are a few photos of the process thus far, as soon as he figures out how to fly AND take pictures at the same time, they’ll be more exciting, but at least he’s not landed on his face but once so far.
