Barnaul Russia

Barnaul Russia

August 7-8
We had a restorative breakfast after “sleeping” on the bus last night. Good eggs, sausage, and toast plus wonderful coffee, then finding the eclectic Hotel Barnaul to stay for a much needed hotel night before setting out north along what we hope are better roads.

We passed the afternoon in high spirits playing drinking games in our room, including the name game in which Caroline dominates. She may have lost at Space Hopper racing but she’s quick on her feet with the name game!

Sarita chose our evening restaurant, a nearby steakhouse. A good time was had by all and we enjoyed the good meal and return to civilization from savagery once again.

Said goodbye to wifi once again with an early start August 8th on a gray, drizzly morning but with sunshine on the horizon as we head to Novosibirsk.

Roads all day were very decent, but lots of truck traffic on the two lanes. Not to complain, though, considering they were real Tarmac instead of gravel.

Stopped for lunch at a nice roadside restaurant in Novosibirsk and all enjoyed some shashlik and a coke before continuing on our way through this busy lakeside town.

Sarita’s eagle eye also spotted my long-desired taxi driver seat beads and we sent Don out to purchase one for my seat and one for the driver as well. A nice improvement to my 12-24 hour a day home.

Here are a few pictures from the bus and life on the road.
