Another goodbye in UB-Sarita

Another goodbye in UB-Sarita

We also said goodbye this week to the best navigator on the planet (sorry Dave Edwards), Sarita Mehra.

We had no idea what she’d be like when we got a request to have an independent film maker join our team. Little did we know what a sharp wit and quick mind we’d be so fortunate to gain.

Our days on the road were made so much easier by Sarita’s efficient navigation of the nearly non-existent roads and tracks with the occasional help of her iPhone. And, for those who know him, she managed to keep Don waaay calmer in the sometimes insane traffic than I ever would as co-pilot.

Although she was working most of the time, collecting footage she needed for her video project, Sarita was always first and foremost a true leader on our team. Effortlessly bridging generational gaps, she even was able to talk to Will about the terrible head-banging music he likes, while still conversant in more normal musical and cultural tastes. While her risk meter may be non-existent and her pants in desperate need of hemming, I have never laughed more in my life than we did with Sarita, at the complete absurdity of life in the chicken bus.

It has been an honor to spend time with Sarita and get to know her a bit better, and we are proud that she chose to spend her summer holidays with us instead of paddling the North Sea, or whatever better-sounding project she probably should have chosen instead of roasting her way across the deserts of Kazakhstan with the likes of us. We will miss our days together.
