08 Jun New Belgium Brewery
We rolled into Fort Collins to check out the New Belgium Brewery. What a huge place. Millions of gallons of beer and the tour included all the samples we could drink. Our guide Eric took us through the whole process of making beer in a sustainable way. They return the water to the Cache La Poudre River sparkly clean just like they got it. And they use solar to power a large part of their operation and also fuel parts with methane from composting.
One of the beers we tried was a sour that was like sucking on green persimmons. Didn’t like that one at all. Eric said if you tried a lot of it the sour went away however I didn’t find that to be true. At the end of the tour they have a sliding board that you can go down so I went down backwards and the only thing that stopped me from hitting the floor was my knees leaving lots of skin on the sides. Eric signed our bus and gave us a lot of stickers. Lunch at Whole Foods and once again we were on our way…
