Festival of Lights

Festival of Lights

Thursday December 13, 2014 a group of our friends boarded the short bus for a ride through the local Festival of Lights, a Christmas light extravaganza at the County Park. 14 of us joined in the fun, riding two-to-a-seat with Don at the wheel. We all agreed that it made for a pretty bouncy ride, and Eleanor’s daughter Elianna told us the new bus she rides to school isn’t so bouncy! We toured around twice, garnering envious looks from all of the other festival-goers having to make do with small cars rather than our spacious and well-appointed short bus.

With all her old stickers cleaned off, the short bus is ready for her new decorations, which include flags of each of the countries we’ll travel through: United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia. We’ll also be adding handprints of our donors, to help raise money for the Lotus Children’s Centre in Mongolia, our chosen charity for the trip.

A good night with good friends, who support the journey, even if they aren’t quite sure what the heck we are actually doing next summer! Thanks to everyone who joined us for our first of many short bus outings as we get her ready for the big trip in 2013.
